every outline on a see-through layer, drawn with hard edges so a colour drop fills the shape and stops dead at the line.
numbers.png
the numbers on their own see-through layer. switch it off when a region is done.
palette.swatches
a real procreate palette. import it once and every colour is sitting in your colour picker, in kit order.

what it looks like painted, to work from. it also sits at the bottom of your layers, and that is the bit that lets the outlines go as well as the numbers.

five files is a shop constraint, not a style choice: etsy allows five files per listing, and these are sold as loose files. so every one of them earns its place.

the bit that matters

the outlines come off too, not just the numbers

a colour drop fills up to the reference layer's line and never onto it, so your paint layer is missing every pixel the line covers. hide the line art on its own and you would be left with a pale hairline everywhere a line used to be.

that is why finished-art.png sits at the bottom of the stack: it already holds the right colour in exactly those places. keep it hidden while you paint, so an unpainted region still looks unpainted, then switch it on at the end. numbers off, outlines off, and what is left is a painting rather than a colouring page.

what you need

an iPad and procreate. it works the same in fresco, clip studio paint and krita.
nothing else. no printer, no markers, no palette, nothing to wash up.
every file is sized for 300 dpi, so if you ever want it on paper it prints at full quality too.

watercolour and other see-through brushes are not bound by the reference layer, so they paint over where the lines are. worth knowing before you pick a brush.

every colour, matched to the pens you already own

a free tracer hands you a hex code and wishes you luck. every kit here names the closest colour in four standard sets, by code and by name, on a card printed at true 1-inch squares so you can swatch your own markers right beside it.

797 of the 947 colours across those four sets rest on real hand swatches, blended from nine independent swatch sets and checked against each maker's own chart. the rest are the maker's own chart corrected by that line's measured shift. where nothing comes close, the card says no close marker match instead of pointing you at something wrong.

about the iPad kits

is this a physical kit?

no, and that is on purpose. everything is digital: printable PDFs for paper, or a zip of layered files for procreate. nothing ships, nothing gets lost in the post, and you can print your outline again if you ruin one.

there are free paint-by-number generators. why pay?

because a free generator hands you one machine trace and wishes you luck. a kit here is eighteen outlines at four darknesses, a page per colour, the piece count and the small-piece warning in writing before you pay, and a swatch card that names the closest ohuhu, copic, prismacolor and polychromos for every colour in the kit. and a person looks at your photo first and tells you if it will not paint well.

do the numbers and lines show when I am finished?

on paper, no: print the faintest plain outline to colour on and keep the numbered one beside you as your map. on an iPad, no: the numbers are on their own layer and so are the outlines, and both switch off at the end.

who makes these?

Megan, a high school maths teacher who paints. one person picks the picture, sets the kit up by hand, runs it through software she wrote, and reads every page before it ships.
